How to transfer your SharePoint libraries documents to Groove using GrooveIT! for My Documents:

1. Activate the SharePoint connector on the left panel of GrooveIT! user interface.
2. Click “Manage”
3. You will see a screen listing your SharePoint libraries
4. Select the SharePoint site from which you would like to transfer documents to Groove
5. Double click on the files to select them; they will appear in the publication list
6. Select your Groove account (if needed), the Groove workspace and the destination directory on the right panel
7. Click “publish” to finish.

Use GrooveIT! rules to facilitate your email management

GrooveIT! for Microsoft Office Outlook allows you to send Outlook emails, contacts, appointments, tasks and RSS feeds straight to Office Groove 2007. You can do this manually using the "Send to Groove" button or automate these tasks using GrooveIT! rules attached to folders.  Different rules can be applied to different folders.

GrooveIT! rules can be applied in such a way that all new items  a are automatically published or only those that match certain criteria (for example,  the subject, sender, etc.).

How to create a GrooveIT! rule

To create a GrooveIT! rule, right click on the folder you want to send to Groove, choose “create a rule”, then follow the instructions to automate the sending of Outlook elements to your chosen Groove workspace.

Optimize emails management using both Outlook and GrooveIT! rules

For example, you may have created an Outlook rule to detect emails coming in from your customer and automatically send them to a folder called customer. By creating a GrooveIT! rule on that folder, your customer emails will be sent to Groove in an easy and convenient way.

Use GrooveIT! for Microsoft SharePoint to make your SharePoint 2007 files mobile

Microsoft Office Groove 2007 SharePoint tool enables you to go mobile with SharePoint libraries items. However, it is not always easy to configure SharePoint from Microsoft Groove 2007. With GrooveIT! for SharePoint, you can  easily have this up and running with just a few clicks.

How to take SharePoint files offline with Groove

First go to HOMMES & PROCESS’s web site, then, download a free trial and install GrooveIT! for SharePoint.

On opening Internet Explorer, you will see a new button called “offline documents”. Go to the SharePoint document library you are interested in, click on the “offline document” button, choose a destination Groove workspace and validate. A new Groove workspace will be created.  You can then download the available SharePoint files by clicking the “synchronize now” button.

Your SharePoint documents off-line step by step:

1. Navigate to the SharePoint document library
2. Click the “offline documents” button
3. Give a name to the destination Groove workspace that will be created
4. Click the “synchronize now” button

Behind the Cloud

Cloud Computing is a concept that has been familiar to IT experts for a couple of years.

What is Cloud Computing?

It may be confusing to a less informed public to understand what is behind Cloud Computing. Indeed, it is quite simple, once experts’ language has been translated, Cloud Computing is a new way to consume software applications: consumption is on demand, you no longer need to buy full software licenses of your favorite desktop application for instance, server licenses and infrastructure. No need either to worry about files and data storage; they are also hosted in the Cloud. Cloud Computing helps cut costs such as ownership costs, IT resources, infrastructure management... it really seems to be a bargain!

As a matter of fact, main software providers, Microsoft, Google and IBM, have their own specific offer in the Cloud. According to Forrester, demand remains low, only 3% of enterprise customers and 4% of small and medium businesses have implemented solutions hosted into the Cloud. It seems that the model has not sufficiently taken into account the need to secure and manage corporate information. Then, it becomes clear that before having corporate data and know-how hosted in huge data centers in the Cloud, organizations must be given some guarantee about security and confidentiality. Among the frequently asked questions: where is my data? Is it stored next to my competitors’ data? Who is having access to my data? When dealing with risk management, those are rightful questions.
