Home offices contribute to reduce carbone emissions: no need to spend hours in cars or trains everyday to go to the office. The time people do not spend travelling to the office can be dedicated to other activities whether personal or professional. The companies which promote the work from home see their fixed charges decrease: smaller office spaces necessary as consequence rent, electricity, heating bills are reduced. Companies where employees work from home at least one day a week see their employee with less stress and an increased motivation.

First of all, work from home enables me to better manage my schedules. It is easier to make myself available when our customers need it most. For instance, when I have an urgent question at the end of the day, I can work on it without constraint when I work at home, as I do not have to come back from the office and pick up my children at school. When working on complicated issues, I can immediately implement my ideas.
Working from home, I am available for privileged moments with my two children: I can pick them up from school and spend an hour with them for lunch – I do not have to pay for school lunch or babysitting. Less time travelling to the office also means being less tired and save an appreciable amount of money! Moreover, it is easier for me to manage school holidays.
Work from home is certainly a big advantage for me. First of all, it reflects the level of trust your company puts in you, which is essential to love you work. For me it is obvious that companies that are enabling work from home for their employees see their turnover decrease a lot.
Working from home can have some disadvantages: employees can find themselves isolated from the company, feel less involved in the company as a result be less committed to the company.
It is important to continue to go to the office at least one day a week to maintain social contacts within the organization. Personally, I come twice a week to the office. I attend to team meetings, discuss about specific projects with my colleagues and more generally share my own experience with the others. Working at home is a real advantage but it does not suppress real life meetings.
